Party Food

For a sleepover party, you’ll be feeding the kids dinner, so you’ll need to provide something fairly substantial. DIY pizza making is a great way to satisfy the hungry hordes. Everyone can make pizza to their own taste, you don’t have to do much food preparation, plus it’s a fun party activity. All you need to do is prep and layout toppings, including ham, chopped vegetables, grated cheese and tomato paste. Give all the kids a pizza base (which can be dough, flatbread or even open muffins), and let them get creative. You’ll need to supervise the cooking, but that’s about it.

Continue the DIY theme through to dessert, with a make-your-own-sundae station. Once again, layout toppings, scoop the ice cream into bowls and let the kids go to town.

Torchlight Treasure Hunt

Before the party, hide treasures in the back yard, then give each of the kids a small torch and send them out in the dark on a hunt. You can hide gold coins, small toys or even glow sticks (remember to activate them before hiding).

Glow-In-The-Dark Bowling

Remove the labels from six small water bottles and drop a glow stick into each one. Make sure you crack and shake the sticks first to activate them. Tape lids shut, find a ball and voila – glow in the dark bowling!

Pom Pom Shooters

These shooters are easy to make and safe to fire at people. For each shooter, you’ll need a 10cm/4 inch length of pool noodle, a balloon, some duct tape and a few pom-poms. Take a balloon, tie the end, then cut a slice off the round end. Stretch this cut opening over one end of your piece of pool noodle and secure it with duct tape. To fire your shooter, insert a few small pom poms, pull the tied end of the balloon back, and fire.

The boys will have great fun firing pom poms at each other, but you can also draw a target on a piece of poster paper and run a shooting competition, with prizes for hitting the target.
